Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. In 1992, she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform, as well as the arms control. She traveled extensively along with the president Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
